Bowser's Kingdom Episode 666, Zombie Invasion, is a Halloween special episode of Bowser's Kingdom, which was made by Araskin500 and Pthouse. This special episode was released on Newgrounds on October 22, 2007.
Premise[]
One night, Mario proceeds to continue his daily objectives by beating up enemies and collecting power-ups and coins. However, things turn for the worse when a Poison Mushroom begins a zombie plague, spreading throughout Dinosaur Land. It's up for Hal and Jeff to survive in a zombie hunt in the midst of this apocalyptic plague.
Summary[]
At night, Mario proceeds to beat up a yellow Shy Guy, before stomping on a Goomba and hitting a ? Block. The ? Block releases a Poison Mushroom, which Mario backs away from as it approaches him. But as Mario backed away, the Poison Mushroom touches both the beaten-up Shy Guy and squashed Goomba, reanimating them into zombies. They slowly approach Mario as Mario runs away, screaming in terror. A red Koopa Troopa he passes is left confused, before turning around and getting jumped by the two zombies, screaming in pain as he gets eaten alive.
Meanwhile in Hal and Jeff's house, Hal is playing Sonic the Hedgehog 1, seemingly irritated. Jeff comes in and informs his friend that there are zombies going around eating their victims, alive, and turning them into more zombies. Hal doesn't seem to care until Jeff tells him that he heard they called him gay. They both decide to go on a zombie hunt and proceed to head to a Gun Merchant Koopa Troopa for weapons. After Hal offers 40 coins to obtain a pistol, his offer gets rejected as Hal does not have enough cash. With sarcasm, Hal "sees" how he doesn't have 40 coins... before grabbing the pistol he wanted and killing the Merchant, horrifying Jeff. Frustrated, Hal explains that not only does he have enough money to buy a gun, but it's the fact that nobody would care about a "creepy Black Market merchant" in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The pair would then grab all the weapons they can for they are about to start hunting for zombies to kill...
While finding zombies, the pair encounter a zombified Koopa Troopa and Shy Guy. The zombified Shy Guy exclaims that he's a zombie now (followed by a typical "ughhh" groan), before Jeff reminds him that zombies can't talk. After the zombified Shy Guy realizes his mistake, Hal proceeds to fire at the zombies... but only succeeded in crippling their legs. Jeff is really irate about why Hal hasn't aimed for their heads, until the latter says he's never used a gun before (which Jeff comments that is why they were unable to kill Mario). While the two crippled zombies are trying to reach them, Jeff gets a cannon and blows them up. But while Hal is confused why he hasn't thought of that (with Jeff answering that he's an idiot), they're both surrounded by a massive horde of zombies. Hal is the only one fending off the horde with Jeff commentating that he ran out of ammo for the cannon and wishes that he had a trigger finger. Hal tells Jeff to use his head, though the latter takes this literally and hops into the cannon as he blasts through a horde of zombies in the front of the cannon. Shocked, Hal chases Jeff through the corpses of the zombies Jeff plowed through with his helmet.
Hal scolds Jeff that he didn't literally mean for Jeff to use his head, and for the fact that he risked his life plowing himself through a horde of zombies. After calming down from their argument, Hal figures that he and Jeff need to find a place to hide, with Jeff concerned on where they should go since the massive majority of residents on Dinosaur Land have turned into a zombie. While Hal figures there may be survivors, a Dry Bones sneaks up on Hal; Hal is frightened and immediately punches the Dry Bones' skull off his body. The Dry Bones explained that he heard them talking about survivors, and there are some residing in a castle by the Donut Plains - the Dry Bones wishes not to come with Hal and Jeff and would rather hang out with the zombies. With the information gathered, Hal and Jeff ran for the castle at Donut Plains.
Once the pair reached the castle, Wario lets them in and they meet up with Geno, The Inaudible Thwomp, and Big Boo. Jeff questions the three on what's going on outside. Geno explains that a corporation called "Parasol" was trying to make the best umbrella that can repair itself if torn. But the umbrellas have escaped, "spreading their P-Virus to everything they bit." Big Boo does not buy this and explains that "it's obviously the apocalypse," rapture is upon everyone for the "Devil's minions" have come for their souls. Big Boo says that the only thing everyone can do now is pray... before admitting that he was joking and tells the group that they're all going to die before vanishing. After Hal comments on Big Boo for being a dick, the Inaudible Thwomp explains that he knows what happened, though with inaudible gibberish about "zombies are killing everyone" and other irrelevant gibberish.
After Jeff comments that the Inaudible Thwomp might be onto something, the castle's gates were broken down by the zombie horde. Wario aims fire at them and charges at them to knock them away, though he gets jumped by a zombified Shy Guy and is brutally killed. The Inaudible Thwomp leaves the three behind, with Hal firing at the zombie horde. Steve, revealed to have been zombified, rises from the ground and eats Geno before returning to the ground. Jeff attempts to flee, only for a zombified Donkey Kong (holding the head of Rick Finkelstein) to block his way and having another horde of zombies approaching from the other way. Hal continues to fire, only to run out of ammo, while the pair being closed in by the zombie horde surrounding them. The credits then play, while the sounds of screaming and flesh being eaten is heard.
Endings[]
Good Ending[]
Hal continues to fire, only to run out of ammo, while the pair being closed in by the zombie horde surrounding them.
However, a powerful blue laser spews from the ground from where Jeff is looking at. The zombies there are obliterated as the ground explodes, with the zombified Steve's head being blown out. Geno, having survived, rises from the hole and furiously fires an energy blast at Hal's direction, killing all of the zombies. Hal and Jeff are shocked and surprised and turn to Geno. Geno asks if they missed him, before informing them that they should know why he's awesome.
Bad Ending[]
Hal and Jeff, now zombified, are feeding on the corpse of Luigi. While Jeff is eating Luigi's corpse, Hal comments that it's not bad being a zombie. The perks were that they won't feel pain, they can live for eternity, and there are much more flesh they can eat. Though Jeff agrees with this, he wishes that they weren't decaying so much, since he admits that they smell really putrid. In the background, Mario is seen being chased, while yelling in terror, by a zombified Wario. The ending ends with Hal asking Jeff if he's going to finish Luigi's leg.

- Some other zombified Mario enemies that are not Shy Guys, Goombas and Koopa Troopas in the crowd of Zombies that rarely appear in series are Dino Rhinos, Spinies, Chargin' Chucks and Rexes.
- A Toad appears in the zombie hoard, despite not being an enemy.
- This episode had some references to the video game series; Resident Evil, most notably the Gun Merchant, the company "Parasol" and the P-Virus.
- The large cannon from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3 and the military guns from the Metal Slug video-game series are used in this episode.
- The map where the castle Hal and Jeff travel to is the incomplete "Doughnut Plains" world from Super Mario World, with a castle, not Morton's, also most of the stuff in the episode was custom made by the creators for a example is the zombified models for some of the characters. Oddly, the background music for Yoshi's Island in SMW is used in the overworld instead of the usual overworld music from SMW.
- Perry from "Super Princess Peach" appears in this episode, due Princess Toadstool's design is taken SMW instead of that game for the third and last time.
- Though, the design reappears briefly in "Episode 10."
- Zombified versions of the Karate Duo Number 1 and the Frat Hammerbro from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga from Episode 6 make cameos in this episode during Geno's and The Inaudible Thwomp's made up stories about the Zombie Invasion.
- A background from "Angel Island Zone" from "Sonic The Hedgehog 3" is used as Big Boo tells about his story about the zombie apocalypse.

- Zombie Wario originates from Wario Land 4, along with his design.
